Application of Behavior - Modification Theory in Nursing Science

Abstract
The behavior-modification theory is based on Skinner¢¥s behavior theory. The practical application of the behavior-modification model provides systematic ways of changing environments to support desired and extinguish undersired behaviors.
The behavior-modification is achieved through the following procedures specification of target behavior, base-line assessment, systematization of situational condition, motivation, confirmation of adaptive process, behavior formation and intermittent reinforcement.
The nursing science pursues the -desirable changes of human behavior through assessment and intervention of organism-environment interaction. Therefore, it is considered that the nursing can be performed more efficiently through application of behavior-modification theory.
This study which is based on behavior-modification showed that positive reinforcement affects promotion of rehabilitative self-care performance. Therefore. file applicable possibility of behavior-modification theory in nursing science seems to be sure.
